Get out and smell the... elderflower?
It's spring and I'm still excited. It really is my favourite time of year. It's time to get outside and enjoy the world. I'm sure it's no big surprise that we are huge fans of flowers, and spring of course has the very best to offer. A few are some of our faves this spring.
Elderflower is an all time favourite; it's delicate and beautiful to look at, but the flavour of cooking with elderflower (yes, I'm mostly thinking of using it in champagne) is very special indeed.
Beautiful poppies of course. Field flowers are especially beautiful.
Oh cherry blossoms, I love you. Beautiful image form Maira Gall's photostream

And a two flowers I've only recently discovered - ranunculus and Californian poppies, so much fun. xx

Garden - Toughing out the flower markets!
I braved the cold, got up extreamly early and drove all the way to the flower markets on my day off. I drove in at 9am on the dot, carried my big basket for flower picking and waltzed right into the rusted arches and thought "Where the heck are all the flowers!?" Note to self: Get there 3 hours earlier! Well hey, at least I got the last minute bargains, but not entirely the variety I was hoping for. Another note: don't negotiate last minute discounts with men that have been up since 4am driving trucks from the farmlands of Sydney into the inner west, they will NOT be impressed! My latest fascintation with flowers, arrangements and posies has gotten me all excited about a bundle more creative ideas in store for Fox and Beau!

Mmmm Peony!
